Tanaz: Your One-Stop Pamper Shop

Shelene Shaer, the owner of Tanaz Hair, Body and Nails in Johannesburg, is a rather big deal in the hair industry. Countless celebrities (and the majority of beauty editors) have Shelene to thank for their impeccable colour and style, which is why I booked my first appointment with Shelene literally the day after I first moved to Joburg.
I was beside myself when we moved to CT just over two years ago - the thought of having anyone BUT Shelene touch my hair terrified me. Fortunately, my job as a beauty editor means frequent trips to Jozi - and a quick trip to Tanaz, if I can help it!

Tanaz Hair, Body and Nails has undergone some amazing renovations in the past year, with the addition of a blow dry bar and a swanky new coffee shop. Tanaz now offers everything a girl could possibly dream of: amazing colour services, talented stylists (if you can't get an appointment with Shelene herself, ask for Justine - she does AH-MAZING colour! - and for ethnic hair, Phepa is your man), manicures and pedicures (as well as other beauty services, such as waxing, facials, and massages), and you can even indulge in tasty meals and goooood coffee. Good thing I'm always in a hurry to get to the airport when I visit, or I'd be tempted to move in!

During my last trip to Jozi, some of my fellow beauty editors and I popped into Tanaz for a bit of pampering while we waited to check into our hotel rooms. We all had the opportunity to try out Tanaz's new blowdry bar while indulging in toasted sandwiches and cappuccinos (some even managed to squeeze in a quick mani while having their hair washed at the basin!) I had my fringe trimmed and had a much-needed moisturising treatment, before Alain gave me a sleek blow dry, and all in less than two hours! A blow dry at Tanaz's new blow dry bar will set you back just R130 and there's no need to make an appointment, as they accept walk-ins only (from Monday to Saturday).
