As most of you know, I got married this past December (which explains the lack of blog posts over the past month!) I had every intention of pre-scheduling a few blog posts ahead of the time, but with work deadlines and finalising last-minute wedding details, I simply didn't have the time. Over the next couple of weeks, I'll be sharing little details from our wedding: from the products I used to get my skin to look all "glowy" for the big day and hair treatments I used, to the inspiration for our table decor and a few foodie ideas to inspire you. I'll finish off with my tips for pulling off a magical wedding on a tight budget, and I'll share a few photographs from our big day too, of course. But first: part one of my how-to-get-perfect-wedding-skin guide.
Forget 'Tiffany Blue', my favourite colour by far (and a must on my bathroom shelf) has to be 'QMS Blue'. Regular readers of this blog will be familiar with my love for !QMS MediCosmetics, the miraculous skincare range developed by aesthetic surgeon and international authority on skincare, Dr Erich Schulte. I've been going for regular QMS facials and using the range on my skin for just over a year now, and I can honestly say that my skin has never looked or felt better. As a beauty editor, I do test and review a variety of new products on my skin on a monthly basis, but when it comes to buying my own skincare products, I always go back to QMS.
About two months before our wedding, I was asked to be a judge for a prestigious round of beauty awards. Needless to say, I was super-excited when my box of products arrived for testing, but also a tad nervous at the affects these products might have on my skin - especially since my big day was fast approaching. I dealt with this fear the only way I know how: I immediately booked myself in for a QMS facial the week before my wedding, so that Anel (beauty therapist extraordinaire and my go-to skin whizz) could treat any post-testing problems and concerns using my most trusted beauty-brand. (I also ensured that I completed all product testing two weeks before the big day, and immediately switched back to my regular QMS routine.) I've blogged about the Classic Collagen facial before, but this time Anel had something a little different and extra-special up her sleeve...
I was treated to the utterly delicious QMS SK-Alpha Treatment, a booster treatment that's ideal for providing your skin with an extra dose of radiance ahead of a special occasion (wedding, anyone?!). As with the classic facial, your skin is first cleansed using QMS MediCosmetics Deep Cleansing to rid your skin of any impurities and to remove makeup . Next, an enzyme peeling product is applied to your skin to remove any dead skin cells and to prepare your skin for the SK-Alpha Revitalizing Mask. The SK-Alpha Revitalizing Mask contains Cinnamon Bark Oil, which is known to improve your skin's circulation (resulting in more radiant, glowing skin). After applying the mask to my skin, Anel placed aluminum thermo-regulation foil over my face to boost the effects of the mask. Once the mask was removed, Anel applied the cooling Alginate Mask (which is also used in the Classic Facial Treatment) to my skin to calm and soothe any redness. This is by far my favourite step in any QMS facial - my skin is left feeling fresh and revitalised, and I feel instantly calmer upon application of this mask (I think the fact that Anel insisted on covering my mouth with the mask may have helped - that way I was forced to stop asking questions and start relaxing!).
The treatment finishes off with an application of QMS's luxe 24Hr Cream, Eye Contour (an eye serum to treat puffiness, dark circles and fine lines) and a firming neck cream. Utter bliss!
