The perfect way to unwind after a manic deadline and just before the chaos of the festive season truly sets in? A well-deserved facial, but of course! I must be honest, I've never really been a fan of facials - too many lotions and potions result in super-sensitive, confused skin, and extractions are quite possibly the worst form of torture ever. But that was all before I discovered QMS MediCosmetics and before beauty whizz Anel got her hands on me - literally!

The facial itself is like no other. The experience is utterly sublime and left me feeling so relaxed and pampered that I caught myself dozing off a few times. The facial starts off with a deep cleanse and a quick exfoliation to remove those stubborn dead skin cells that result in a dull, lack-lustre complexion. Next, Anel applied the QMS Alginate Mask, which gave my skin an instant surge of moisture while taking an imprint of my skin that Anel could use to analyse the overall state of my skin (the verdict? Slightly dehydrated, with a plenty of congestion).

But my absolute favourite step is the application of the indulgent QMS Relax-O-Firm Mask - this is where I found it really difficult to stay awake! After applying the mask to my skin, Anel applied a layer of plaster of Paris. She covered my eyes and mouth, which I found very relaxing - but you may want to opt to keep your mouth uncovered if you're claustrophobic. The heat from the plaster encourages the mask to work at it's optimum level, and the overall result is pure relaxation. And you won't believe your eyes when the mask is removed - instant results! My skin felt super-soft and smooth, and looked incredibly radiant - as though I had woken up from a 24 hour bout of beauty sleep!
