Skinny laMinx Linen Runner, R275
I can't believe it's just 10 days till Christmas. Time has absolutely flown this year - and what a year it's been! 2011 was full of changes for me - from a new job and new city to moving in with my boyfriend for the first time. I've never really considered myself much of a domestic goddess, but I've surprised myself over the last few months. It turns out I can cook (and I really enjoy it and I'm quite good at it, even if I say so myself...), and I revel in the routine that running a household brings. I've always had a love for decor though, so unlike many other things to do with settling into domestic bliss, spending far too much money on cushions and curtains certainly wasn't new to me. Which brings me to my fabulous gift idea for today (which, I'm happy to report, is already wrapped and waiting for me under my Christmas tree!): this gorgeous table runner (pictured below) from local illustrator and designer, Heather Moore, a.k.a Skinny laMinx. I am absolutely obsessed with Skinny laMinx's designs: from table runners, napkins, cushion covers - you name it, I want it. I've lusted after this beautiful flatware runner in 'wasabi' for ages, so when I spotted it at the Missibaba and Friends Christmas market on Saturday, I just had to have it. I persuaded my boyfriend to buy it as a stocking filler for me - sadly, he actually insisted on wrapping it so I'll have to wait until after our Christmas break to use it!
Skinny laMinx has just opened it's first store on Bree Street in Cape Town, something I'm really excited about. I haven't popped in just yet, but will do so in the new year (after Christmas when I actually have some money to spend!). I plan on getting some cushion covers made up, as well as stocking up on some matching napkins to use with my new runner.
