Be your own beauty editor with Dove!

There's nothing I enjoy more than taking a long bath and pampering every square centimeter of my body. I like to spend at least one hour every week plucking, shaving, scrubbing and moisturising my body from top-to-toe, and I always find that a good pamper makes me feel so much better about myself and my body. I'm very lucky in that my job as a beauty editor demands that I try different lotions and potions in an effort to find only the best to write about in the magazine, so spoiling myself and looking after my skin could be seen as a job requirement. I firmly believe that looking good and feeling good go hand-in-hand, but I'm well-aware of the fact that other women don't necessarily have the luxury of time, or the opportunity to try various products sent to them specifically for review purposes.

Which brings me to my latest brainwave: I have been approached by Dove to review a selection of their products, and I jumped at the chance because Dove is one of my favourite beauty brands. But, I wanted my readers to get in on the action too, so I thought: why not organise for a few of my loyal readers to review a product or two as well? That way, between me and you, we'll be able to formulate an unbiased review of each product so that other women who happen to read our little reviews will get honest feedback on every product.

Interested? Read on...

Dove has already sent me a divine hamper with a selection of products to try, so I'll be testing these and writing a review on each over the next couple of weeks. Dove has also very kindly offered 5 additional hampers for 5 lucky readers, so you also stand the chance to try some of the brand's best-sellers.

  1. Beauty is completely what you make of it yourself. How you take care of yourself and how your personality shines through is what makes a woman beautiful. With the right attitude and self respect, anyone can be beaula:)

  3. Beauty to me is VERY important to my self esteem and how I feel as a woman. Also I want my family to look at me and say proudly that I am there mom and looking after ones self is vital. Beauty is also about how you feel inside and out.

  4. On the outside, beauty is the way I look after my body; it's about having a healthy, balanced diet, protecting my skin and hair from the elements, and getting enough sleep and exercise. On the inside, beauty is about being compassionate, loving and honest. All these things together make a person beautiful!

To me beauty means realizing that you are not perfect but you are unique so you must learn to love your imperfections perfectly and know that you are such a unique and beautiful creation.

  6. What beauty means to me, is taking the best care of yourself that you can, loving yourself so that you feel and look your best. Beauty is also two-fold as it also encompasses inner beauty - a heart that is full of love for others!

  7. Beauty is taking care of your skin and yourself and accepting that you are ageing. Happiness is important for beauty in yourself as happiness imparts a radiance.

  8. Beauty is believing that you are unique and embracing the body you have. It's sharing a quick smile , a warm embrace and good advice. It's smiling through tears , laughing through pain and walking through a crowded room when you feel like you want to run and hide. Beauty shines from the inside, it does not come from a magazine , from the television or the latest trends but rather ...from you just being you.

  9. What beauty means to me is more than just what goes on on the outside. I've met some gorgeous women in my life but their attitudes and their lack of kindness towards others is what made them so, and I actually hate using this word, damn ugly! Beauty is something that shines from within. A kind word, an accepting spirit towards other peoples differences, true compassion and understanding!
