Wedding Countdown: Two Months To Go!

Today marks exactly two months until our big day, and now that our invitations have been designed, we've signed up for our gift registry and the decor and catering plans for our big day seem to be coming together, I've finally started to turn my thoughts to my wedding dress. Since finding out that I'm pregnant, my dress requirements have changed somewhat, in that my dress budget has been reduced significantly and my only consideration when it comes to fabric is whether it'll be cool enough for a heavily pregnant (think 33 weeks!) bride in the middle of scorching December. Out with vintage lace, in with flowy, breathable fabrics. We decided on a small-scale wedding with a small budget from the get-go as we'd been planning to start a family in the not-too-distant future anyhow, and didn't feel comfortable spending an arm and a leg on one day when we should be saving for a house, a baby, Baby's education... Our wedding day has always been more about sharing our love with our family and close friends, rather than a traditional, white wedding. It works for some people, but not for us. But don't be fooled: there were moments when my fiance and I clashed a bit because I wanted to spend an obscene amount of money on a pair of shoes or over-the-top venue, but all that changed once I found out that we were expecting. Priorities, I guess!

Even though I won't be investing in a designer gown, I'd still like something beautiful that I'll love for years to come. But I have absolutely no idea where to start looking: I don't know any good seamstresses in Cape Town (suggestions welcome!), and dress makers recommended by a handful of friends have turned out to be way over my budget (think gowns starting at R10 000! Again, ok for some, but not when your entire wedding budget is close to that figure!)

I took to the internet to find a few dress ideas for some much-needed inspiration, and I must admit that I'm really surprised at the lack of flattering gowns for bride-to-bes who also happen to be mommy-to-bes! I've heard of so many women who tied the knot while pregnant over the past few months, so it's quite surprising to find that there aren't many service providers catering for pregnant brides. If you know of anyone, please do leave their details in the comments section below - it would be so helpful!
