Baby Bump: {22 Weeks}

 "No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you. After all, you're the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside"

 This week, I've been...

Eating: As healthily as possible! I'm trying to cut down on any sugary snacks (almond croissants from The Food Barn at Noordhoek Farm Village are a favourite weekend indulgence, and I've taken to dipping a Mars Bar into a decaff cappuccino on those days when you really need a little pick-me-up at 3pm) and I'm also aiming to guzzle down at least 2 litres of water every day, to ensure that Bubs has plenty of cushioning in there.

Worrying: A LOT. Every pregnancy book or magazine that you pick up encourages you to stay calm and stress-free for baby's sake, but let me tell you, it's virtually impossible not to worry about this little being who's so dependent on you. I've been worrying about the food I eat, whether I'm eating too much sugar, whether I'm drinking enough water... the list is endless. And heaven forbid Baby doesn't move for an hour or two - cue panic-stricken thoughts and furious prodding of the belly to get him to move. Or I eat something sugary to give him an energy boost, and as soon as he starts to wriggle about, I worry that I've had too much sugar. Sigh. It's a never-ending cycle.

Wearing: For the first time since my tummy started to expand, I feel as though I have something to wear and that I actually feel as though I'm looking half-polished. I recently bought a maternity dress from Mr Price (for a mere R90 - bargain!), comfy preggy pants and a LBD from Cherry Melon (a chic maternity wear range at Canal Walk Shopping Centre), a stripey T from Zara (not maternity wear, but I bought a size bigger), and my mom sent me a selection of gorgeous tops (the teal one in this week's pic is one of her picks - not a colour I would ordinarily choose for myself, but I really love it!)

Slathering: My tummy's been feeling pretty tight these last few days, so I took that as my cue to start applying my selection of stretchmark creams with even more enthusiasm than before. I've always been a fan of Bio Oil and apply this all over, from my neck down to my toes, and I'm really enjoying Mama Mio's Tummy Rub Stretch Mark Butter. I plan on doing a full post on all my mom-to-be essentials in the not-too-distant future, so keep an eye out for that!

  2. PS... you really shouldn't stress so much! I lived on hotdogs and chocolate milk, and baby girl is perfect! Ha-ha! We won't talk about my weight though (oi!). But I know how it is... that precious angel's well-being takes over all your thoughts.
