The weekend that was...

This weekend...

... we invited friends over for brunch. We made pancakes with strawberries, cream, maple syrup, honey, cheese (yes, cheese. My new favourite pancake topping, by far) and berry jam. It was delicious! Such a lovely way to spend a Sunday morning.

... I fell in love with our dishwasher all over again. After brunch with friends and hosting dinner for my parents on the same day, I expected to spend the rest of my Sunday evening in the kitchen, cleaning up and washing the dishes. I didn't. It took me all of 30 minutes to load the dishwasher and clean the kitchen. Bliss!

... we received our first house-warming gift - a gorgeous 'Tea for Two' set from Le Creuset. I am besotted and have decided that we will have a Le Creuset wedding registry.

... I spent a ridiculous amount of time watching dvds and lying around doing nothing. It feels really good to let go and laze about for an entire day sometimes. I've realised that I need a day of nothingness every now and then . Without it, I start to feel really overwhelmed and out of touch with myself.

... had my first mini-meltdown in a while. The past few weeks have been incredibly stressful work-wise, and I've found it rather difficult to cope and stay on top of things. It all became a bit much over the weekend, but I'm pleased to say that this Monday has been rather kind and it's restored my sense of balance. I have a long to-do list for the week ahead and lots of motivation to get through it. The whole drama served to remind me that every morning provides us with an opportunity to start again and that, sometimes, there really are more important things than worrying about things that you can't change.
