Wednesday words

Highlight of the day... the opportunity to experience a Neydharting Moor facial for myself. The Moor Skin Care range uses peat and peat water taken directly from the famous Neydharting Moor in Austria and the products contain a unique blend of anti-ageing botanicals, herbs and vitamins to soothe, cleanse and hydrate your skin.

Last night I... made spaghetti bolognese (my best attempt yet!) and paged through a few glossies for inspiration for my beauty pages.

Current favourite song... It's by no means a new song, but it's a very rarely known song and one that I discovered accidentally way back when my fiancé and I first started dating. We watched a movie called Wristcutters: A Love Story (hardly as morbid as it sounds!) and after a week, I still couldn't get the theme song, Through The Roof and Underground (by Gogol Bordello) out of my mind. I rediscovered it this week and can't stop listening.

Right now I am wearing...  A pair of dark skinny jeans from Guess, a feminine, summery top from Woolies and my Country Road flats (again). (Contrary to what this blog might suggest, I do still wear heels. In fact, I wore my Aldo heels just yesterday, and a gorgeous pair of red platform peep-toes from Zoom on Monday).

Five beauty products I'm obsessed with at the moment...
1. Filorga Sleep and Peel Resurfacing Night Cream. I suffered a major breakout early last week, and this fantastic night cream managed to sort it out almost instantly. It acts like a chemical peel, although it's much gentler and can be used every night (opt for once every two nights if you have sensitive skin). It has a gentle exfoliating action to improve radiance and minimise imperfections, and also plumps and hydrates your skin.
2. Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H Foundation. I have a combination skin so I prefer a matte foundation, but have found that the majority of matte foundations tend to be too heavy for my liking. Not so with this beauty from Lancôme - it's a sheer formula, so your skin looks like skin, but provides matte coverage without looking powdery or 'caked' on.
3. Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in 'Nougat'. This brilliant nude is so easy to wear and is a quick way to look instantly polished.
4. The Body Shop Chocomania Body Butter. Oh my. Do I even need to explain why this is on my list of current favourites? The rich, creamy texture just melts into skin and it smells absolutely decadent. The Chocomania Lip Butter also goes every where I do - I love it!
5. Maybelline The Colossal Volum'Express Cat Eyes Mascara. I am a HUGE mascara fanatic - I refuse to leave the house without at least two coats of the stuff. This one does exactly as it promises - it lengthens and defines each lash, and gives your eyes a slightly feline look.

Scent of the day... DKNY Pure.

I'm looking forward to... going to my next reiki appointment later this evening. I went to my first reiki session last September and haven't had the time to go for my next appointment, so I'm really looking forward to it. I'm also really excited for a much-needed break this weekend. My grandparents are visiting from Pretoria, so they've organised for my aunt, uncle, cousin, fiancé and I to join them in Betty's Bay for the weekend. I'm looking forward to a mini roadtrip with good music, a pile of magazines and a good book (or three)! I'm currently making my way through The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides, and recently bought Louise Hay's renowned self-help book, You Can Heal Your Life. I can't help myself - I'm a sucker for the self-help genre!

Now it's your turn! Copy the questions above and include your own answers in the comments section. Pretty please? I can't wait to read your comments!

  1. I'm obsessed with the Chocomania Body Scrub. It smells insanely good. It's not in the least bit artificial - smells like pure, decadent chocolate. So yummmy!
