It's my birthday on Sunday and I'm really excited about it; more so than I've been in previous years. I think it has to do with the fact that it's my first birthday as a wife and a mother, and it also has a lot to do with the fact that it's one day that's all about me. I've given myself permission to forget about boring household chores and to revel in a bit of self-indulgence - the fact that the Argus is taking place on Sunday (which means that we'll be landlocked as Noordhoek residents) gives me all the more reason to stay in bed all day, watching chick flicks and indulging in all my favourite foods.
1. Quilted leather city bag from Zara - I spotted this bag on the American website for Zara, but I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before it makes its way to our shores. My current everyday 'handbag' is a very practical baby bag that's straining under the weight of baby wipes, nappies, extra outfits, and a few soft toys, but I'm going to need something a bit more stylish for when I go back to work at the end of May.
2. Lancôme Génefique Yeux Light Pearl - I haven't had a full night's sleep since my little boy was born at the end of January (it's really not as bad as it sounds; it's surprising how little sleep you can get by on while still feeling fine, trust me!), and it's really starting to show on my face: my complexion is looking a little dull (nothing a little exfoliating can't fix!), and I've got BAGS underneath my eyes. I've been testing a few eye creams over the past couple of weeks (full reviews coming soon!), but I'm absolutely dying to try this little wonder from Lancôme.
3. Yankee Candle in 'Sicilian Lemon' - I love all scented candles, but Yankee Candles are by far the Rolls Royce of candles and one of my favourite little luxuries. I think the mood-boosting 'Sicilian Lemon' scent would be a great addition to my collection, given all the early morning starts I'm privy to lately.
4. Cynthia Silvia Stout shampoo from Lush - I first used this shampoo when I was about 15 years old and living in the United Arab Emirates. I absolutely adored the scent, so it became my regular go-to shampoo. I've been meaning to stock up ever since Lush first launched in SA but just haven't gotten round to it yet. It would be a very welcome gift come Sunday!
5. The Lumineers - Yes, I am one of those people. You know the type: the ones who play the same song over and over again, and who listen to one album on repeat until they're absolutely sick of it. I've been YouTubing The Lumineers every morning for the past two weeks so that Noah and I can do a little jig while getting ready in the mornings and I'm still madly in love with them, so I've decided that this album is a must.
6. YSL Top Secrets Beauty Sleep Radiance Revealing Concentrate - I've used this beauty before, but it was before I had a baby so way before I knew it's true worth! I'd love a tube of this for my birthday - I remember it being a very luxe cream that gave my skin a plumped up, healthy glow literally overnight.

7. Black peplum dress from Woolworths - I haven't been shopping (other than for maternity wear, but that doesn't count!) in about a year so I'm really excited to update my wardrobe for Autumn and Winter. I've just had a baby so I'm doing it on a very tight budget this year, which is why I love this peplum dress from Woolies - it's a bargain at roughly R250!

I need to get that quilted Zara bag, if you do spot it in store please let me know :)
