Wednesday words

Highlight of the day... starting my morning by unpacking a big stack of boxes containing gorgeous beauty products for my upcoming shoot. These include a fabulous 'Energizing Body Kit' from Neutrogena containing the now (sadly) discontinued Light Sesame Body Oil and Sugar Scrub, gorgeous shimmery eye shadows from Black Up, the newest fragrance from Chloé and Lancôme's exciting new mascara, which is launching in September.

Last night I...  whipped up a delicious, warming Korma curry and sat in front of the fireplace while watching Masterchef SA. I was so sad to see Sarel leave the show - he was my favourite and I was hoping he'd win. My bet is on Sue-Ann to take the title now. (Sometimes it's good to come home and do nothing for a little while, right? On the agenda tonight: more packing!)

Current favourite song...  I can't think of a particular song that I've been obsessed with lately (mostly because I've had a rather busy and stressful two weeks, and I find that music tends to fall by the wayside when I'm frantic - sad, really). However, while decluttering and going through a few boxes we still have lying around from our last move, I stumbled upon my fiancé's collection of CDs. Amongst the lot, I found a Turin Brakes cd and decided to give it a try: I know of Turin Brakes, but I'm not very familiar with their music. After listening to the album in my car on repeat for a week, it's safe to say that I've been converted. Better late than never, no?

Right now I am wearing...  Black! My black skinnies from Guess, my black jersey with zip detail from Milla at YDE and - believe it or not - a pair of Converse All Stars. Yes, I own a pair and yes, I'm wearing mine to work. It's a relaxed, office-bound day so why wear heels or face freezing feet?

Five beauty products I'm obsessed with at the moment...
If you follow me on twitter, you may have seen my over-excited tweets about the launch of Kiehl's in September. I've heard so much about this brand over the years and always long for the luxe body treats shown in international glossies, and you'll be pleased to know that I've been using a few testers given to me at the launch and I can honestly say that it's an amazing range. I can't wait for the store to open so that I can stock up on more Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser, Ultra Facial Toner and Ultra Facial Moisturizer. My nails have always been very weak and fragile, so after attending an OPI launch a little while ago, I decided it was time to try OPI Nail Envy Nail Strengthener for myself. I started using it about a week ago (start off by applying two coats of Nail Envy, followed by another coat every other day) and I'm pleased with the results so far. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Anti-Ageing Hand Cream SPF25 goes everywhere with me these days, too. Nothing beats a great hand cream and this is one of the best.

Scent of the day... Elie Saab Le Parfum. This is such an exquisite, sensual fragrance - I simply can't get enough of it! It makes me feel pretty and feminine - even while wearing All Stars!

I'm looking forward to... Friday! The vocalists of two of my favourite South African rock bands, Cito from Wonderboom and Paul E Flynn from Sugardrive, have a solo project called Absinthe, which is finally making it's way to Cape Town. I can't wait to see Absinthe live again - and The Kalk Bay Theatre seems like the perfect venue! To find out more and to buy tickets, click here.
